Hotel Type

Boutique Hotel

A braided handbag’s throw from Ginza’s collection of Chanel and Cartier boutiques is an unexpected inn the bucks the belief that ever hotel in central Tokyo comes with 40+ stories. From outside it looks like one of the area’s unkempt residential blocks, but just beyond the edgy façade is a zen-theme palace lined in locally sourced bamboo floors with lobby eatery that’s one of the top sustainable restaurants in the area.

Morning at Yoshimizu is a convergence of fashion-types and waif-locals dining on a selection of fresh organic eggs and fish while by night the space comes to like with a small dinner scene that’s by request only with organic vegetables, natural pork, chicken and fish of the season. Surprisingly affordable, from $150 per night, it’s one of Tokyo’s most affordable boutique finds as long as you can deal with the Japanese-style accommodations.
The Room

Ginza Yoshimizu builds its business on extending ways in which guests can live in harmony with nature while being in the middle of frenetic Tokyo. Room’s offer no mini-bar or telephone or TVs, just sparse white spaces plastered with high quality diatomaceous earth walls. Floors are lined in woven rubs with thick futons topped with organic all-natural bedding located directly on the floor. Some rooms, but not all, offer their own bathrooms and showers while everyone else must queue-up for one of two washrooms located on the top floor. The hotel also enforces a strict curfew of 12am, meaning that anyone planning a late night needs to let the hotel know in advance.
